(Senior) Legal Counsel Compliance

The Senior Compliance Legal Counsel is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization's compliance program to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. This role involves overseeing compliance projects, creating and updating internal policies, conducting training programs, and serving as the primary point of contact for compliance inquiries. The Senior Compliance Legal Counsel also plays a crucial role in identifying and mitigating compliance risks, maintaining accurate documentation, and fostering a culture of ethical behavior and regulatory adherence across the organization. By ensuring that the company complies with international laws and regulations, this position helps protect the organization from legal and reputational risks while promoting a strong ethical framework.

PROGRAM/PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
Plan, lead and coordinate the conception, implementation, and company-wide rollout of specific compliance projects. This includes coordinating with various departments to ensure that compliance measures are effectively integrated into all business processes.
TRAINING PROGRAMS
Develop, align, and conduct comprehensive training programs, including eLearning initiatives, to educate employees on compliance requirements and best practices. This involves creating training materials, scheduling sessions, and assessing the effectiveness of the training.
DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATION
Ensure adherence to legal documentation requirements, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all compliance activities. Support internal compliance communications by creating informative content and updates to keep employees informed about compliance matters.
MONITORING AND REPORTING
Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies across the organization. Prepare and present reports on compliance activities, findings, and recommendations to senior management and the board of directors.
INTERDEPARTMENTAL COLLABORATION
Work closely with other departments, such as Legal, Finance, Procurement, IT, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, and Internal Audit, to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance across the organization. Provide support and guidance to these departments on compliance-related matters.
POLICY AND GUIDELINE DEVELOPMENT
Plan, lead and coordinate in the creation, development, and updating of internal policies and corporate guidelines. Ensure these policies are in line with current laws and regulations, as well as best practices in compliance management.
COMPLIANCE INQUIRIES
Serve as the primary point of contact for compliance-related inquiries from all levels of the organization. Provide expert advice and guidance on compliance issues, and ensure that all inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately.
RISK ANALYSIS
Coordinate the development, execution, and evaluation of compliance risk analyses. This includes identifying potential compliance risks, assessing their impact, and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may affect the organization’s compliance obligations. Continuously seek ways to improve the compliance program and ensure that it remains effective and up-to-date.
EXTERNAL RELATIONS
Liaise with external regulatory bodies and agencies as needed. Ensure that the organization’s compliance practices are aligned with regulatory expectations and address any issues or concerns raised by these bodies.
EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
that matter most for this role:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the legal field, with a focus on compliance.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in overseas legal compliance risk management, with an emphasis on areas such as anti- corruption & bribery, antitrust- & competition law, supply chain and ESG compliance, sanctions & trade compliance & export controls, data protection, cyber security & IT compliance, human rights protection etc...
- Experience in developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs and initiatives within a corporate environment.
- Proficiency in using compliance management software and tools, as well as standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- In-depth understanding of EU legal compliance management policies and practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international laws and regulations related to data protection, human rights, export controls, anti-trust, and anti-bribery.
- Understanding of the regulatory environment and its impact on corporate compliance programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex legal and compliance issues and develop effective solutions.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to stay current with changes in laws and regulations, and to adapt compliance programs accordingly.

Due to legal reasons we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary according to the collective agreement for this position, which is EUR 2.446,00 gross per month. However, our attractive compensation package is based on market-oriented salaries and is therefore significantly above the stated minimum salary.
